Our Staff

Clemence (a.k.a. Clemmy) is a recent graduate from the University of San Francisco with a bachelors in biology. She will be applying to a different school for an accelerated bachelors in nursing. In her free time she enjoys hanging out with family and friends, going to the movies, and spending time outdoors. She loves MCW and this is why she is back for the fifth summer :) 

Cheyenne is 20 years old and this will be her first summer at Mountain Camp Woodside. She is very excited to spend the summer with all the children. Her passion is to teach and inspire children and young teens. She is currently attending California State University, San Bernardino, working towards her Bachelors Degree in Liberal Studies. Her goal is to graduate in Spring of 2016 and then attend a teaching credential program in the fall. When she is not at school or studying, she loves to be outside: running, riding her bike, hiking or just admiring the beauty of the outdoors. She also loves to cook, read, and play games. 

Demi is from Tauranga, New Zealand! She is 21 years old and is the oldest of four siblings. She spends her time studying Media & Design at The University of Waikato and also works in Customer Service. She has a passion for photography and videography because this what she spends a lot of her time doing during University. When she is not studying or working, Demi enjoys spending time with her friends and family, especially getting outdoors and going camping! She loves adventure and travelling so this experience is definitely going to be amazing. She can’t wait to skip the Kiwi Winter and start her first Summer at Mountain Camp Woodside! 

Taylor grew up in the Sierra Foothills near Auburn, California. He graduated from University of California Santa Cruz in 2014 with a B.S. in Earth Science. Since graduating he has been working as a science instructor at Hightrails Outdoor Science School in the beautiful San Bernardino National Forest. When not working with kids you’ll find him watching football, reading, rattling off movie trivia, or rolling a twenty sided dice (Dungeons and Dragons). He also enjoys hiking, biking, and just about anything else outdoors. His philosophy is that student enthusiasm and excitement is directly influenced by their counselor’s enthusiasm and excitement. The best way to get them interested is by being as wild and goofy as they are! He is looking forward to a new adventure at Mountain Camp Woodside and can’t wait to get to work! 

Melissa is from Northern California and lives in the small town of Ladera. She is a graduate from Menlo Atherton High School, and is attending Southern Oregon University. In her free time she loves to stay active, by hanging out with friends and involving herself in many extracurricular actives. Some of her hobbies include Horseback riding, traveling, and volunteering at her church. One of her favorite childhood memories involved playing fun games on the trampoline, with friends. She is great at finding new and creative ways to have fun. This will be Melissa’s third year here at Mountain Camp Woodside. The last two years she has worked with our youngest age group the cubs. She enjoyed, creating the cub cheers, Lifeguarding, and participating in the sports and activities that MCW offers. 

Scott or Spud as he's known is 22 and from Doncaster, a small town in England. After working as an accountant for 3 years he decided to follow his dream in becoming a teacher and studies Physical Education and Sports Coaching at Doncaster University Centre. This is Spud's first time at camp so is looking forward to sharing the same experiences as all the campers. In Spud's spare time he loves everything to do with soccer (its going to be hard work calling it soccer all summer) from watching his favourite team Sheffield Wednesday to playing and coaching. Spud is a fun, caring and energetic person who likes to give everything a go and wants to pass that onto all campers this summer to give them the best time of their lives. 

You're gonna have to fight pretty hard to be more excited about this summer than this guy!! One year into College and Chris Gregory is back 'n ready to roll this summer! Graduating from Priory last May, Chris spent the past year at Bucknell University in the Frigid land of Pennsylvania majoring in Theatre and Animal Behavior. Chris is a Division I Varsity Athlete too, using his many years of Gymnastics to serve on BU's Cheerleading Team. Additionally, he has been working for the Campus Bakery, and the County Fire Department for Emergency Medical Response. When Chris is not studying or hanging out with animals, you'll likely find him in the Theatre working with Lighting, singing, dancing, or playing in other areas of the theatre. Chris also enjoys running, with a favorite distance of 50 miles, and two 100 mile runs under his belt! Chris led the Priory Team to the State Championship in his Junior and Senior years, and still holds school and league records for several races! Chris is most excited about meet new faces, and see the familiar ones again this summer!! :) 

Alistair comes from the sunny old land (sometimes?) of England in a small rural area in the south-east, called Kent and this will be his first summer at camp! He is a (soon to be) medical student at Imperial College London but while he isn't studying, he can be found in or around the water usually! His favourite activities include swimming, water polo, surfing, scuba diving and a bit of rugby! He is also a fan of camping as living by the beach in Cornwall for 2 weeks every year for the past 10 years has ingrained the camper into him. His favourite memory is being on the beach with a campfire late at night! One thing that Alistair loves is meeting new people and exploring different cultures and he see's camp as a mixture of people from all over and a great opportunity to do just that. Having never been to the states, he is excited to meet all of the campers and counsellors and have a great time during one of the best summers he hopes to have! 

This is Victoria and she is from San Mateo, CA! However for the majority of the year she lives in Southern California and goes to the University of Redlands. She is a rising senior and is studying Psychology and Environmental Studies. She hopes after graduation to apply for her masters and goes into counseling or research. This will be her second summer at Mountain Camp Woodside. She is excited to be back and play with all of the kids again. She loves to swim and take photos. In addition, go on adventures with all of her friends. In her free time you will see her eating chocolate and watching youtube videos. She hopes to have another great summer at Mountain Camp Woodside! 

Chloe is 20 years old and will be venturing over from a small town in soggy England to join us in the Californian sunshine this summer. Chloe loves visiting new places and experiencing all sorts of different cultures and foods (however being a bit of a picky eater can make this slightly tricky at times!), and when she returns home she loves spending time with all her family and friends. With a passion for anything outdoorsy, Chloe is often found knee deep in mud or taking a trip to the beach for a swim with her friends, which is probably why she decided to become a lifeguard! She is super excited to be joining us for her first summer at camp, and loves the fact that she will be able to spends her days in ridiculous costumes and it be totally okay! She is counting down the days until she hops on her flight over to camp, and cannot wait to meet all of the kids and counselors.

Brooke Cornish is currently a Sophomore at Santa Clara University, Majoring in History. She is hoping to later attend Graduate School for teaching, and to become a history teacher. This is her first time joining MCW, she is extremely excited to join the campers in this fantastic experience. She loves acting, singing, writing, and just having a good time. Brooke's main belief is that camp should be a place where everyone is comfortable and having the best time they can. She currently lives with her parents, two siblings, and three dogs. 

Georgia is a 20 year old Dance and Education Studies student from Liverpool (the hometown of The Beatles!). This is her first time working at a summer camp and she can't wait to meet all of the children and staff and try smores!!! Georgia spends most of her life in dance classes and on stage and she loves every moment of it. She has performed at Disneyland Paris and on board an Italian cruise ship on the Mediterranean which has given Georgia an ambition to see as much of the world as she can! She has also recently danced for the BBC as part of the 'Strictly Come Dancing' and 'Dancing with the Stars' team and danced back up for boy band 'Backstreet Boys'! Georgia has also won North West Ballet Champion and performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London with the English National Ballet. She is extremely proud of all she has achieved so far. When Georgia isn't dancing, she is in University, or in the gym, or watching Disney movies (The Little Mermaid is her all time favourite and she has always wanted to be a mermaid). Besides becoming a mermaid, Georgia's aspiration is to become a primary school teacher when she graduates from University because she wants to be an inspiring role model to children and she wants to make a positive difference in the world! 

Pete is originally from Coventry, England but lives in Liverpool for most of the year where he is currently studying History and Politics at the University of Liverpool. This will be his first year at MCW and he cannot wait to meet all of the campers and enjoy a fantastic summer with them. In his free time, he enjoys playing football/soccer with his team at university, running, going to the gym and doing anything active! Although he doesn't boast the best voice in England, he's not one to shy away from song and is looking forward to the campfire songs. He is excited to travel to the U.S. for the first time and enjoy a memorable summer at MCW. 

Joanna is absolutely overjoyed to be a first-year counselor this summer at Mountain Camp Woodside! Hailing from the wonderful city of Chicago, Illinois, Joanna is currently a rising senior at Ball State University studying Elementary Education. Besides her love of working with kids, Joanna also has passions for theatre, singing, and writing. Joanna loves Disney, hanging out with friends and family, watching tv and movies, baking, taking nature walks, and having lots of different adventures! You will almost always see her being goofy and having a big smile on her face. Besides meeting lots of amazing campers and counselors, Joanna is most excited about being in the mountains and having campfires under the stars all summer. She cannot wait to give the campers an incredible summer at MCW! 

Katia Kiefaber is from Mountain View, CA but she spends the school year at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. Because the weather is so snowy and cold out there in New England, Katia spends most of the school year skiing, sledding, and bundled up inside studying. She's studying Psychology and Education at MHC, with a minor in Studio Art. Aside from school, Katia loves being outdoors and on the go! She hikes, kayaks, swims, practices yoga, sings and horseback rides. She also is an avid runner, hoping to run a half marathon this summer! Katia usually can be found covered in watercolors, sweaty from a run, or licking a cone of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. Most of all, she can't wait to spend this summer at Mountain Camp Woodside! 

Josh is a 21 year old hailing from a rainy semi-rural town in Cheshire, located in North West of England. He's looking forwards to having the best summer of his life in the sun in California. Josh is a massive sports fan and spends the majority of his free time watching, reading about, or most importantly playing anything and everything that involves a ball, a bat, a racket, a club, a field, a track - anything! Or just doing some form of physical activity! When's he's not doing something sports-related Josh can be found in the gym most days a week, working hard and training himself as well as some good friends. This will be Josh's first summer at camp and he cannot wait to arrive and to ensure that the children have an absolutely awesome summer, having a lot of fun, making a lot of friends and making some lifelong memories along the way! Josh prides himself on being a natural leader, mature (but with a very fun and goofy side!) and a responsible role model, ensuring the children have a very fun yet safe and character building experience. Josh can't wait to fly out to California and to meet all the Mountain Camp Woodside staff and, most importantly...the campers!! :)
